Evaluation Procedures

The performance of a student in any course will be evaluated on the basis of class attendance, in course/class test/class assessment, assignments/term papers/case, mid-term and semester final examinations.

For All Programs:

The whole course will be divided into two parts and the course evaluation will comprise of the following:

*    For a 3 credit hours course minimum four class tests need to be taken and best three of them will be considered for evaluation. For a 1/2 credit hours course minimum three class tests need to be taken and best two of them will be considered for evaluation.

**  After the completion of the midterm examination, the 1st part of the course would be considered completed and would not be carried on semester final examination.

Earned Credit Hours

The course in which a student has obtained “D” or higher grade will be counted as earned credit hours. Any course in which a student has obtained “F” grade will not be counted towards his / her earned credit. In that case he/she will have to repeat the course. “F” grade will not be counted for GPA calculation.

Course Monitoring

  1. At the beginning of a semester, all the courses will be assigned by the Academic Committee of the respective department headed by the Chairman.
  2. The course-teacher shall provide the students a course outline indicating the list of textbooks to follow, probable dates of in-course tests and home assignments.
  3. The Academic Committee will monitor the progress of the course by sitting together at least once in a month, fix up the examination schedule and conduct the examination.
  4. Result of each semester will be published within a maximum period of 1 week from the date of last examination of the semester final examination.

 

Academic Probation

Students of undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate or any other academic and professional programs with a GPA less than 2.50 will be placed under probation for one semester only. If he/she fails to improve his/her grade within one semester, he/she will have to leave the university. If a student fails to attend any class test, midterm or final examination, he/she will get a zero in that particular class test, midterm or final examination. When a student secures grade ‘F’ in any course, he/she will require to repeat that course by paying full course fee. Repeating a course implies that the student has to attend all the classes, class tests, midterm and final examinations as a regular student. No student will be allowed to repeat/retake a course more than three times. If any student fails to improve the grade within the stipulated time, he/she will not be allowed to take any further course(s) to continue until he/she improves the grade.

Degree/ Graduation requirement

To obtain the desired degree/graduation from CBIU, a student must complete minimum required credit hour of his/her respective program as declared by CBIU and approved by UGC, and must acquire minimum CGPA of 2.50 or higher GPA on the scale of 4.00.

 

Training of outgoing graduates

A training program will be arranged by university authority for the outgoing graduate of different disciplines to improve their professional skills in the practical field. Necessary notice in this regard will be served before the commencement of the final semester in the examination schedule.

 

Registration

Students are required to complete their registration for enrolment in the coming spring semester 2014. With the registration form a student is required to submit all the relevant documents. Without registration, no student will be allowed to attend classes, and a student will be considered as absent from the semester. Registration should be done in-person. Training may be given to all the students in a meeting to be held for correctly filling in the registration form and submission of related documents properly.

Students will have to register the course/courses for Repeat, Incomplete and Improvement like the registration of regular courses.

Students will not be allowed to change their section as decided by the authority, except in the case of spouses and siblings.

Foundation course in English

Foundation course for English will be arranged on payment of Tk. …………. Those who will not pass the placement test in the English (for general students) will have to attend remedial course for specific period on payment of Tk. ……………. This is compulsory for all the students.
